Currently I'm one week out from Vietnam, and still have a fair bit of organising to do. I'm hoping my first impression of Hanoi (the capital in the north) will be as fun, insightful and evocative as the opening speech to the Quiet American:
“I can’t say what made me fall in love with Vietnam - that a woman’s voice can drug you; that everything is so intense. The colours, the taste, even the rain. Nothing like the filthy rain in London. They say whatever you’re looking for, you will find here. They say you come to Vietnam and you understand a lot in a few minutes, but the rest has got to be lived."But that's pretty unlikely seeing as I'm not Graham Greene - though I hope nobody reading this would hold that against me! Until next time!
